Overheard in Flat 19 – Funny Quotes From University Halls

Hi everyone,

Today I have a different kind of post that was kind of spur of the moment.

So, I have been told off for not featuring my flat mates more on this blog and therefore have decided to introduce the entire bloggerverse to the Great Wall of Flat 19 (no, not China).

The Quote Wall was something that we came up as a flat to torture those innocent flat mates (mainly David) for saying silly things. They get written down and dated but the name of the speaker is never revealed, and passers by who come and visit from other flats etc. have to guess who said what.

Today I will only be giving you a slither of my favourites (and by the way I have been featured on the wall too). Some of these things have to be considered completely out of context too.

Without further ado, here are the top quotes

Arden Shakespeare… is he Shakespeare’s brother?

-24th October 2016- Said when I came back from shopping having picked up a couple of new books from Oxfam. One of them being an Arden (publisher) addition of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale. I will concede and tell you that Naveedh is the person who said this.

Speaker 1: I’m not ready for his package.

Speaker 2: No one ever is

This is the newest one on the wall, and not dated unfortunately. I believe this was in regard to the mail- but who knows my flat is pretty crazy.

Aren’t plants animals?!

This one came from Kat, an anomaly in the mix and I am proud to say that this is her only addition to the Great Wall of Flat 19’s Quotes.

Speaker 1: We could catch the 5:34 bus

Speaker 2: What time’s the 5:34 bus?

Said on a drunken night out. Again a conversation between Naveedh and Monty. To this day Naveedh contests that he simply thought that Monty was talking in terms of the bus’ number but I don’t believe him…

You would need  a tranquilliser to get me into bed.

Yes, I know a very questionable sentence – and again this came from Naveedh (are you starting to see a pattern here?)

I would believe you even if you told me the sky was blue!

Okay. *sighs* This one MAY have been me. It was. But let me just clarify that it was night time when this was said and the sky was pitch black. But yes, I still know how silly it sounds.

It feels like Naveedh is inside of me.

This is Kumar’s one and only quote on the board. And he himself would like you all to know that the original quote is actually missing (yeah right). To give some context I believe Naveedh simply said exactly what was on Kumar’s mind at the time.

And our final quote  *drum roll*

If you ever need someone to try on your tights, my pants will come right off!

Can you guess who said it? Yes, that’s right Naveedh again. He was very very drunk at the time and came into my room when me and some other people were putting away my tights. I jokingly said he could wear them if he wanted and thinking himself Robin Hood at the time… well this was what left his mouth… Oh dear….

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this humorous post. I have plenty more quotes than that as well so I might do another post like this (at my poor flatmates expense but also at my own).

I also have two more reviews on there way, that I will be posting within the next two days. One of them is La La Land (BOOOOOOTIFUL) and the other is Kwaidan a 1964 Japanese horror anthology movie.

I promise I will actually do some book reviews too at some point, just degree reading has been putting me behind in that aspect.

Thanks for reading!

Let Me Catch You Guys Up

A lot of shit has happened since I last spoke to you guys on here.

So basically I am now at University in Nottingham and moved right into my accommodation. The House is what I shall call it.

All my flat mates are lovely, so far I have two guys that are kinda like my older brothers, another two that we don’t see very much but are really nice and then there’s Molly and Kat. Molly is who I’ve bonded with the most and who I spend the most time with.

But at the mo I feel kinda out of things so I got up from the daily movie screening in her room with people to FINALLY update this blog. Sorry for keeping you all on the edge of your seats for so long.

Yes, Molly is basically a funny, hardcore gal from the Isle of Wight, weird I know, but it’s very much true.

Kat on the other hand I won’t lie did kinda intimidate me at first but she really is incredibly lovely and then there’s Monty the guy doing animal science who went to Eaton.

Fancy, am I right?

But yeah that’s the low down on all my flat mates and then the other people I’ve met are a whole nother story.

One that I have to mention would be Holly, the kooky, creative, street smart pal I have made for my classes- she’s a local Nottingham gal so she’s been showing me the ropes.

If I’m being honest it’s very difficult to describe university life because I seem to have fallen into a very comfortable pattern, I feel weird and there are a lot of things I would like to discuss on here but perhaps that’s better left for another day otherwise this post is going to be super long.

A few final points; we have a cat called Albi at the accommodation, I have a drama teacher  called Gordon Ramsay and I have joined the knitting society.

*Takes a breath*

Yep so that’s that for now, I shall try and give you another update on Monday probably. I was going to say Sunday but I may be too upset because Alex leaves for Coventry again at six (I’m seeing him this weekend, yay!)

See you soon,

E

Suicide Squad, Baby Ducklings, University & Books on my TBR List.

Hi there,

Long time no see, eh? Well for all those who wish to know I got into the University of Nottingham the other day to do a joint honour of English and History! Whoop whoop! I start late September and will update this blog as soon as I know what the hecks going on.

So onto other things. I went to see Suicide Squad today and over to Alex’s house today for the first time since our little hiccup. Everything was fine, thank goodness and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. They even have two little ducklings called Eggbert and Sweetie in an incubator at the moment. Soon to be new members of their animal family.

But yes, my thoughts on Suicide Squad? Well, seeing as Harley Quinn is one of my harley geopfavourite characters of all time I have been looking forward to seeing this movie for at least a year and although in my opinion I loved it, there were parts and patches that felt…. uh a little undeveloped.

I know quite a bit about Miss Quinzel and thought that her and the Jokers characters- although having flashbacks (not all of which made sense)- weren’t as focused on which was a shame since they are meant to be the main characters of the comics at least. That and the fact that Poison Ivy was absent really upset me.

So although I thought it was a good stand alone movie, I found the focus on Deadshot (Will Smith) to be overly emphasised despite him not being as major a character in the series as Harley and the others. So I could see why some die hard fans may have been a tad miffed – he was the core focus of the movie and the development of characters wasn’t as balanced as it should have been.

harley pinkBut Oh well, I still loved Harley ( me and Alex actually went to Halloween as Harley and the Joker last year… I’ll see if I can dig out the picture).

Anyway, onto my ever growing TBR list. I’ll admit I am in the middle of quite a number of novels at the moment but here are the major ones.

By the way I will be starting a series of book reviews and am open to receiving requests (email me if you’re interested) as well as joining forces with other bloggers to write some posts together. I still have a Liebster award post to get too as well… darn I got busy quickly.

TBR List:

  • The Princess Bride by William Goldmanprincess bride
  • The Monk by Matthew Lewis
  • Super Better by Jane McGonigal
  • The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.

Yep, it’s a lot of reading to be doing and that with a publishing internship and being a team member of another site means that I am constantly writing.

Which is actually quite fun, so I’m not complaining.

Anyway, I’ll post more tomorrow!
